  • Coordinate with primary trainer to establish timelines for review and submission of all materials
  • Send email to ABE by June 1 to signal intent to take exams.
  • Give Primary Trainer all required materials for signature and review in ample time for submission by Primary Trainer for arrival at the American Board of Examiners by July 15.
    1. Completed, signed CP Application Form
    2. Primary Trainer Endorsement Form
      • Be sure to complete and sign the “Waiver of Liability”.
    3. CP Verification of Supervised Experience
      • Each supervisor who provided more than ten sessions of supervision must submit a Verification of Supervised Experience form in time for arrival at the American Board of Examiners by the July 15 due date.
    4. List of training
    5. Education documentation
      • If licensed mental health professional: Copy of state license
      • If non-licensed master’s level or higher mental health graduate: Copy of graduate transcript(s)
      • If non-mental health graduate: Non-Mental Health Education Verification form and associated transcript(s)
    6. Copy of resume
    7. List of other professional achievements
    8. Application fee
    9. Provide a postage-paid envelope addressed to the American Board of Examiners

Secondary Trainer:

Give Secondary Trainer the Endorsement Form in ample time for submission by Secondary Trainer for arrival at the American Board of Examiners by July 15.

  1. Be sure to complete and sign the “Waiver of Liability”.
  2. Provide a postage-paid envelope addressed to the American Board of Examiners.

Third Professional Endorser:

Give Third Professional Endorser the Endorsement Form in ample time for submission by Third Endorser for arrival at the American Board of Examiners by July 15.

  1. Be sure to complete and sign the “Waiver of Liability”.
  2. Provide a postage-paid envelope addressed to the American Board of Examiners.

Reminders:

  • Observe social media restrictions.
  • Requests for special accommodations for the CP written exam must be received by July 15 and, if based on a disability, must include medical or psychological documentation.
  • Check that your Related Field is on the approved list.
  • You will be notified if any materials are missing before the Board’s application review. After you receive email notification of approval, you will receive a series of email instructions in preparation for the written exam.
